Verified for Hub Island build

Best Legendary race (0.25%)

Dragonborn is the most flexible — it buffs Scythe, Greatsword and Fire damage. Shadowborn is pure Katana glass cannon (+35% Katana but -50% Greatsword/Scythe and -25% Max Health).

Best Fabled race (2%)

Djinn for Scythe mains (+15% cooldown, +20% Scythe, +25% dash). Lunarian for Katana mains (+10% speed, +10% HP, +20% Katana, +10% Fire).

Best rare roll you should keep

Oni is the best Rare Greatsword pick (+15% HP, +20% Greatsword, -5% speed). Elf stacks three Katana-friendly buffs.

Should you reroll Human?

Yes. Human rolls 48% of the time and only gives +5% XP. Anything Uncommon or above is an upgrade. Save rerolls for a Fabled+ target once your mastery is picked.

Best Races for Beginners

If you roll Human (48% chance), reroll. Human's only buff is +5% XP Gain. Skypiean and Elf are both easy Uncommon/Rare upgrades that work for Katana mains. Fishman and Oni are the Greatsword picks. Keep rerolling until you land at least an Uncommon race, then save rerolls for a Fabled or Legendary target that matches your mastery.

Best Races for PvE and Boss Farming

Katana is the game's top PvE mastery, so the strongest PvE races are the ones that scale Katana damage: Shadowborn (+35%), Lunarian (+20%), Elf (+10%), Skypiean (+10%). Shadowborn has the highest ceiling but pays for it with -25% Max Health and a -50% penalty to Greatsword and Scythe, so it only works if you commit to Katana.

Best Races for PvP

PvP caps stats at 10,000 HP and 325 Melee Damage, so flat HP race bonuses matter less than skill cooldowns, dash distance, and weapon-specific multipliers. Djinn (+25% dash, +15% cooldown) pairs best with Scythe's grab kit. Shadowborn's +40% dash and +35% Katana make it lethal for duelists who can avoid getting hit.

Which Races Are Not Worth Rerolling For Early?

Shadowborn is a trap if you have not yet committed to a Katana build — its -50% Greatsword & Scythe penalty and -25% Max Health punish flexible play. Dragonborn is the safer Legendary because it has no negative modifiers and buffs three mastery types.
